Government House, Hongkong, 25th January, 1909.
It is with much regret that I have to report the death on the night of the 24th instant of Lance Sergeant Harry Arthur Mills of the Hongkong Police Force from a bullet wound inflicted on him by an armed robber whom he was attempting to arrest on the night of the 21st instant at Yalunati.
2. The deceased joined the Police Force in 1904 from the London Metropolitan Police. He bore an excellent character and was a very efficient Police Officer.
3. He was unmarried. His mother's address is on record at the Colonial Office and I telegraphed the news of her son's death to you today.
4. I enclose a newspaper account of the circumstances under which the deceased lost his life.
